Are you wanting to start up a new aquarium? Having issues maintaining your cycle in an established aquarium? Usually you would have to wait up to 6 weeks to add fish!! Nobody wants to do that so we bring you a solution. Adding cycled filter media allows for the instant addition of fish to your aquarium.

One portion is enough to cycle a tank up to 250L. Please enter your tank size in the notes and we will send the required amount. If you have larger tanks, purchasing of addition portions would be required. Each portion would be made up of either sponge, filter wool or ceramic media. If you have a specific preference about what you would like, please let us know.

Why is it important?

Fish create waste in their aquariums which is toxic to them. This media houses bacteria that eats the waste and makes it safe for fish.

How is this different to the traditional bottled bacteria products?

The bottled bacteria products have been shown to have little impact on ties to cycle a tank compared to traditional 'fishless' and 'fish-in' cycles. That is the reason why we do not sell the products you will see in most other fish shops. Kickstarting the cycle with cycled media is the only tried and true method of kickstarting the cycle.

How do I use this product?

There is a few ways to make use of cycled media to start the cycle in your aquarium. However, we will go over the easiest way here. Place the media in your filter. To fit it, you may have to remove what is already in your filter. Do not worry, the cycled media is what is important, rather than the brand new uncycled sponges etc. Once you have added the cycled media to your filter, you want to introduce a small bioload at the same time. This means a few fish only. Do a 1/3 water change every day for the next 4 days and don't feed. After this period, you can begin feeding small amounts every other day and go down to 1x water changes per week.
